Sad state of affairs. Thanks for calling out this sham panel (snakeoil salesmen) - you summarized it well.

You had me at Ron Johnson and RFK Jr - two of the biggest whackadoodles alive today. But this full list was horrifying, not just because it is unethical for any professional to offer advice that is outside the scope of their training and expertise, but because this group of charlatans made it to congress, thereby giving them the appearance of credibility. I’d say that Ron Johnson must have suffered brain damage from his COVID infection, but I’m from Wisconsin. He’s never been any smarter than this.

Thanks for the detail on this event and the participants. Senator Ron Johnson is an embarrassment. But why in the world is Stanford University sponsoring a symposium (Oct 4) with similarly mis and disinformation participants, including The Epoch Times and signers of The Great Barrington Declaration. I'd like to hear you thoughts.: “Pandemic Policy: Planning the Future, Assessing the Past,"

Thank you for your thoughtful take on this! I was horrified to receive the American Society for Nutrition's bimonthly policy update today with the headline "Senate Roundtable on Health and Nutrition Draws Standing Room Only Crowd" and the following description (with no other notes or commentary):

"Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) held a roundtable discussion, American Health and Nutrition: A Second Opinion, to examine how changes in agriculture, food processing, and healthcare industries impact health. According to Senator Johnson, “Americans are facing a healthcare crisis, and those who question the current orthodoxy or offer alternative treatments are ridiculed, vilified, and canceled…I was joined by a highly qualified group of doctors and nutritional experts to discuss our nation's health and ask questions we haven't been allowed to ask.” A few of the notable roundtable guests included Robert F. Kennedy, Jr; Dr. Casey Means; Vani Hari (also known as the Food Babe); and Jillian Michaels. The roundtable garnered a lot of attention, with two overflow rooms needed. More information on the roundtable participants and a video of the 4-hour meeting are available online. There is also a 14-minute highlight video."
