I’m truly horrified and terrified. This is just inconceivable that the republicans are so spineless and corrupt that they would vote for this. What a stupid country we are. Dumb as mud. I’m sure Patel will be next.

Please continue to inform us how we can help. I have called and emailed my Republican Senators, and representatives. As a mom and a teacher and human I am just devastated. Our children deserve better.

This is such a disappointment. I’ve been joining in the fight to keep others abreast on public health issues happening around the country. Fight misinformation is taxing but it must be done. The fight continues.

I am so disappointed in the senate. This is a travesty.

Oh God this is the worst news since March 2020.

Dr Andrea, thank you. For being a good scientist, for fighting the lies, for telling the facts in the face of lying bastards getting appointed. I can’t believe hundreds of years of democracy and science are being destroyed out of hand by these fucking morons, and we have no choice but to watch in horror as these stupid monsters tear it all down. Despair.

Thank you, as always, for keeping us in the know. This is such a dark day for public health. I've been a PA-C for 18+ years. We are going into uncharted territory. I'm scared, I'm angry and I'm rageful, but I'm ready to do what I can. Take good care of yourself, Andrea, we need you! <3

I’m thinking we compile our own data. I have long covid. Someone study me…please. I’m planning to learn data analysis and data science. It’s time.

This being American Heart Month, I would like to see this controversy get resolved. "Is a particular dietary recommendation harming people in the U.S.? For almost 20 years, scientists have been arguing over whether Americans and others on a typical Western diet are eating too much of omega-6s, a class of essential fatty acids. Some experts, notably ones affiliated with the American Heart Association, credit our current intake of omega-6s with lowering the incidence of cardiovascular disease. Others, which include biochemists, say the relatively high intake of omega-6 is a reason for a slew of chronic illnesses in the Western world, including asthma, various cancers, neurological disorders and cardiovascular disease itself." (web search - ASBMB An essential Debate)

Back in the late 1950s, some overzealous scientists assumed that replacing saturated fats with polyunsaturated oils would prevent heart attack. (web search - AHA Nina Teicholz 2023)

Since then, no experimental evidence has emerged proving that dietary saturated fats can clog arteries. (web search - Glen Lawrence saturated fat 2024)

Proponents of high linoleic acid intake say, "Linoleic acid (LA), as a part of the wider debate about saturated, omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids (FAs) and health, continues to be at the center of controversy in the world of fatty acid research. A robust evidence base, however, demonstrates that higher intakes and blood levels of LA are associated with improved cardiometabolic health outcomes." It was further noted that "higher blood levels of LA were associated with lower risk of coronary heart disease, stroke and incident type-2 diabetes mellitus compared with lower levels, suggesting that, across the range of typical dietary intakes, higher LA is beneficial. (web search - Martha Belury Linoleic acid 2024)

The so-called robust evidence base consists of associations involving lowered risk across the range of typical dietary intakes of linoleic acid. Unfortunately, there is no research into what the risk would be if linoleic acid intake were dialed back to pre-20th Century levels when heart attacks were extremely uncommon.

Well, that’s one more reason for us Europeans to keep our distance while the US endures its current brain virus. But I’m profoundly sorry for all the American children who will suffer from this particular attack of craziness.

Would you point us to the essay in which you discuss AAP’s nutrition policy?

Substack’s search function isn’t helpful.

Keep letting us know what actions can be most effective. I’m calling my blue senators every week to cheer them on, and calling my GOP election denier Rep multiple times a week to demand that he take action to protect his constituents.

If Kennedy weren’t so dangerous, his disordered thinking might almost be pitiable. For someone so educated, his lack of logical reasoning is astonishing. But the fact that a Republican-controlled Senate would confirm him underscores the deeper crisis—this administration isn’t just indifferent to competence; it actively embraces ignorance and extremism. It’s a stark warning of the existential threat we face.

No, it’s not a catastrophe. He’s a smart lawyer who knows how Washington works to implement corporate interests. He’ll tackle that and with any luck we’ll all be eating better and benefitting from less inflammatory disease. For those of you in favor of mandated treatments, including vaccines, you probably won’t like that Bobby will advocate for Dr and to make these choices, not the government. I respect your political view there but for myself, I guess you could say I’m in favor of “medical choice.” in any case, we won’t have to read these hit pieces, about a worm in his brain and such. We can listen to the hearings ourselves and see what decisions actually ensue.

Did you actually read the article? If not, here is one about his eroding trust in affordable and nutritious foods:

Studies have proven that food additives are not what is causing poor health in this country. It's lack of exercise, lack of fiber, over consumption of ultra-processed foods, and lack of access to quality healthcare. Those are the main determinants of health. Choice implies privilege. If you have "medical choice," then you have the privilege of making those choices. You have the finances and the access to choose when and who you go to for your healthcare. The poor and marginalized don't. It's about to get worse.

I tuned in to CNN to see the coverage of this, and caught the tail end of Dana Bash interviewing Calley Means. The chyron referred to him as a "safe food advocate." I only heard a bit of the interview, but there was no mention of True Med Payments. It's killing me that he was presented as an expert. i can't find any way to give feedback on that.

I really don’t understand how you get away with this pathetic defense of terrible $cience.

I assume you can read package inserts for the vaccines given in spades to our children. It is CLEAR that these shots have not been properly safety tested. Anyone saying otherwise — all of the Senators in the confirmation hearings, you, and countless others — are LYING.

It’s widely and easily accessible at this point. Readers, please do your due diligence and realize you have been lied to on an unbelievable mind-boggling scale — and for way too long considering our chronic disease epidemic. Click on the links in this .pdf to access the package inserts PROVING the sad state of the $cience behind childhood vaccines. Ex: HepB, a shot given to newborns has post-licensure safety testing for 5 days without a true placebo.

And I recommend you read the post-licensure safety studies as shown in the package inserts. And then defend this ”rigorous science” we all have been shilled into believing.

I don't give a flip what is in the shots. We should want them tested just as vigorously as other medicines that have product liability. To think that our public health agencies defend this sick amount of poor testing (days-long, weeks-long? ... not using true placebo control) on products without product liability is an abomination. PLEASE READ THE PACKAGE INSERTS, PEOPLE.

We have. We know the original vaccine candidates were tested with saline placebo-controlled trials, and thus testing for non-inferiority against any approved candidate is just as good as a saline RTC, if not better.

Given: A <= B <= C

Then: C >= A

It's basic logic:
