Welcome to the ImmunoLogic newsletter!
Who am I?
My name is Dr. Andrea Love. I am a Biomedical Scientist with a PhD in Immunology and Microbiology.
I am also a science communicator, runner, amateur photographer, and catmom to 7 furbabies. I started my scientific career in academic research with a side of education. I transitioned into industry over 10 years ago. My professional diversity gives me expertise and insights into many facets of scientific research, regulatory oversight, and biomedical therapeutic development.
I wear many hats:
I work full-time in biomedical sciences in the fields of cancer research, vaccines/virology, cell and gene therapy, and immunotherapy.
I’m the Executive Director of the American Lyme Disease Foundation.
I write the Inside Immunity column for Skeptical Inquirer Magazine, and I serve as a scientific consultant to several other organizations in government, industry, academia, and media.
I started ImmunoLogic as a response to science and health disinformation that has accelerated in the last several decades, when it was clear the public, healthcare providers, and journalists were in need of credible fact-based information on topics related to immunology, microbiology, scientific principles, and the wellness industry.
While I will always be a biomedical scientist, I have a passion for helping the public understand complex science topics in order to navigate the world better.
My goal is for people to realize that science is something to marvel at and embrace, not use as a tool to scare people or coerce them to buy unproven products. I want to alleviate unfounded fears and anxiety from predatory fear-based messaging (yes, we will talk a lot about chemophobia), so that you have a better understanding of what’s fact and what’s fiction as it relates to your bodies, your health, and consumer products.
What is the ImmunoLogic newsletter?
This newsletter will focus on science education, dispelling common misconceptions, and debunking disinformation. Always evidence-based, but with a touch of snark. Here, you will find more granular discussions on topics that are often misrepresented or misunderstood:
Cancer biology, immunology, and immunotherapy
Cell and gene therapy and genetic technologies
Vaccines and infectious diseases
Autoimmunity and inflammatory diseases
The microbiome
Molecular and cell biology
Chemistry and toxicology basics
Quality of scientific evidence
And deep dives into the evidence (or lack thereof) about trends in the wellness industry:
Dietary supplements
At-home health tests
Pseudoscience diagnoses
Restrictive dietary patterns, ‘detoxes’, and ‘cleanses’
Organic, non-GMO, and other anti-science marketing tactics
I hope that, in this world of misinformation, ImmunoLogic will enable you to feel more confident about these topics, navigate around unsubstantiated claims, and allow you to make decisions that aren’t driven by emotions. Improved science literacy benefits individual and public health.

You can post comments, ask questions, and participate in scientific discourse.
Evidence-based science presented here can be accessible and available to all, especially when too many influencers profit by selling pseudoscience.
We continue to work toward improving science literacy which benefits public health and technological development.
We can arm the masses with the real facts behind false claims that create fear and uncertainty that circulate on social media and by media outlets.
Welcome and thank you for joining in the fight for science!
Thank you for supporting evidence-based science communication. With outbreaks of preventable diseases, refusal of evidence-based medical interventions, roadblocks to scientific progress that improve food and crop sustainability, it’s needed now more than ever.
Stay Skeptical,
Andrea
