I'm very sorry about your kittie. we have fingers and paws crossed that you hear some not so bad news from the oncologist and that he continues to beat the odds. He certainly beat them when he was rescued and landed in your loving space. sending healing energy to your pack.

So sorry to read about your kitty. I recently lost my 22-1/2 y.o. rescue cat, who was in surprisingly good shape up until the last couple of months 🐈‍⬛

Hi, Dr. Love. I’m sorry to hear about Maxwell. I hope for the best outcome for him. It’s important to stay positive. Maxwell is quite obviously well loved and taken care of; you’re giving him the best life you can. If Maxwell likes hugs, please give him one for me along with my best wishes. And thank you, as always, for all you do to advance the cause of science literacy and healthy skepticism!

Excellent. The only question I'm still not sure about is the glucose monitor. I think diabetes, pre diabetes occur on a sliding scale and it is possible that monitoring spikes before we reach the disease threshold could be beneficial.

I know I'm a little late to the game, but I hope Maxwell is okay and getting treatment that will rebound him to the super car I know he is. (I've never met him, or you, but you seem pretty awesome so I imagine your cat(s) must be.) I just lost my 19 yo orange cat to kidney failure in June. It's the crappiest part about loving them. I'm sending you and Maxwell healing vibes and lots of love. 💜💜

Maxwell is a gorgeous guy who exudes intelligence (perhaps more intelligence than most of the people working in our current regime). I am so sorry he is struggling! We have had cats for decades (our current tally is 5), and they bring immeasurable delight to our lives. They also keep us humble. Caring for an animal is hard, sometimes messy work, but it teaches us patience and keeps our priorities in line.

On top of this heartache, I can’t help but think of the vicarious trauma every scientist must be experiencing after the brutal attack on the CDC. For anyone who thinks that science disinformation is harmless…get your shit together! No one has suffered more than scientists, especially since COVID descended upon our world. You do not deserve to be tormented for simply doing your job responsibly.
